TYPICAL USES FOR MOBILE SURGICAL UNITS
- Telemedicine: This is the future of mobile health-care. These units have been designed from the very beginning with telemedine in mind, not as an afterthought or appendage to an existing concept. These units are capable of providing telemedicine support for consultations, radiology and pathology through the use of satellite, cellular, or regular phone service connected to one communications system. Workstations can employ high resolution monitors and are fiber-optic/copper-cable wired for a full local area network (LAN) connecting to a wide area network (WAN) that is neither vendor nor protocol specific or limited to system drivers. The telemedine and communication capabilities are also adaptable to future systems upgrades alleviating issues of component incompatibility and obsolescence. This allows for video teleconferencing or other input/output device plug-ins for the clients that want to install their own electronic devices. Physicians and staff operating in these high quality units can document every patient experience from the first EKG, BP, and O2 during the pre-operative preparation to anesthesia, environmental and post-operative note collection. Thus, storing all information in the patients electronic single-source permanent medical record. This combined data will track patient activity and allow for better medical outcome studies, utilization reviews, accreditation, and cost/benefit evaluations.
- Hospital Renovations: Disruption of surgical procedures affects patient health and hospital market share. Hospitals using these systems will be able to operate as usual with no disruption to patient flow or volume. These units enable hospitals to maintain or increase revenue stream. Fixed site often see surges in needed capacity, these units can be shared as needed between fixed sites. Ambulatory surgery centers offer an inherently lower environment than conventional operating rooms that have extensive overhead costs, including travel expenses for patients to reach a centralized location, as opposed to mobile facilities to travel to remote sites on a regular basis.
- Correctional/Detention Facility: There are some very unique issues when dispensing health care to incarcerated populations. Additional security personnel and security costs plus the risk involved can all be mitigated with mobile health solutions. This protects the incarcerated, the security staff and the population at larger when health care issues can be solved in a secure area as opposed to a public hospital.
- Refugee/Displaced Populations: Heathcare issues in close living quarters require swift and decisive action to protect the health and welfare of everyone. Rapid diagnosis and proper equipment to respond is essential. The communication and equipment capabilities of these units will ensure the best possible healthcare is immediately available.
- Pandemic Containment and Prevention: The ease of mobility with these units will vastly improve the chances of indentifying, analyzing and containing potential pandemic hotspots. The communication capabilities will ensure quick and constant contact with world health authorities and experts. Identifying and innoculating isolated outbreak hotspots will help prevent spread of contaigens to the general population. When there are no active hotspots, the educational aspect of these units is vital to training local health and media officials on how to detect, isolate and report suspected cases of communicable diseases until a mobile response can be on scene.
- Accreditation: These units undertook and passed two USA national inspections to obtain full healthcare accreditation. The benchmarks that these units acheived are for the highest quality US standards that include:
- Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO)
- Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC)
- Associations: The client will have access to one of the best teaching hospitals and staff in the world through the Letrah Consortium. They will assist the client in proper medical protocols to meet the forefront of medical technology. They will ensure proper staff training and education. They will coordinate through telemedicine to help resolve the most complicated cases and provide realtime consults.
